The rock crab season in LFA 25 opened at noon on Oct. 24.

The season had originally been slated to start Oct. 20 but was delayed due to bad weather.

Monique Baker of DFO said the season will run until Nov. 29.

The rock crab season usually opens five days after the closure of the fall lobster fishery. Each licence, whether commercial, First nations or community, is allowed 100 traps.

The catch limits are 25,000 kilograms for commercial licences and 35,000 kilograms for First nations and community licences. Only male rock crabs, with a minimum carapace width size of 102 mm, may be retained.
