Governor General David Johnston assisted with the pulling of one trawl and snapped bands on the claws of some of those he removed from traps. He also heard about v-notching and saw a heavily berried female lobster before it was tossed back into the ocean.
The experience was an apparent hit with the governor general who commented on how much he was looking forward to a lobster dinner.
Later in the evening he presented the Caring Canadian award to three Yarmouth residents at Town Hall. Tomorrow he will be taking in the Acadian culture during a visit to the Municipality of Argyle.
