I wonder what would happen if the bread makers of canada decided to shut down their ovens until they got $5 a loaf?

I only have one question: " What do we have to lose by joining the association?" Doing nothing hasn't gotten us anywhere. So why not try something?

There are videos of lobstering here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jcAk__wQj44&feature=related Look to the right of that page for his list. Imagine being on the water in the winter, working on a slippery deck with your hands half frozen despite gloves, gaffing lines (and trying to untangle them when someone else has set pots where you have yours) and constantly getting icy salt spray in the face on windy days.. And then you have to bait the pots before tossing them back, again with cold hands. And when the water is really rough, some of the fishermen have to take time out to throw up over the side, and then they go right back to work. Compare all of that with working in a warm office with a coffee pot by your side, keeping warm all day, and having regular hours and the weekends off. I think the lobster fishers deserve AT LEAST 5.50 a pound. There are few people tough enough and brave enough to be able to do what they do. I hope that they get their cannery, too. Why should cannery jobs for Nova Scotia lobsters go to another province? Good luck to all of you who lobster for a living. I hope you shake things up and change the lobster fishery to one that YOU WHO GO OUT ON THE WATER own lock, stock, and barrel.

If the Association is looking at setting up a Cannery in Southwest nova, then I'd like to now what there doing at Us Four Fisheries in Meteghan. O yeah it's called a Cannery a well nobody must of checked before saying there is one in Southwest Nova. Do the research before saying there are none in the area.

I had a small business in the Barrington area for 6 years and worked my business for 7 days a week. I lobster fished in Clark's Harbour for 5 years. It became impossible to do either, as the economy of the area was obviously going down fast. It was a difficult decision to move away to Alberta. My heritage was Nova Scotian since the early 1700's. The main reason we moved was; we had no mortgage, no bills, only had to put oil in the furnace and food in the fridge. When that became almost impossible, we had enough. The folks in Southwest Nova have to wake up, it's not only the lobster fishery that is pulling you down but also the government. When the Ferry was shut down in Yarmouth, the coffin started closing on the area. Now the last nail is about to close in on that coffin. It's time to unite! And if you don't have faith in James Mood, it doesn't matter. You have nothing left to lose. It's better to try and fail than not try at all. You have already seen what doing nothing gets you. "Wake up people", there are more folks from the NS arriving in Alberta every week. You're properties will not be worth anything by the time you decide you must move out here too!
