Fish plant workers in Eastern Prince Edward Island will have a chance to secure work for the coming fishing season at a job fair being organized by Skills PEI, says Innovation and Advanced Learning Minister Allen Roach.

“Recent changes to the seafood processing industry have left many Islanders seeking jobs in the industry. This provides an opportunity for these experienced workers to get together with seafood processors as they begin hiring for the 2012 season,” said Roach. “This will allow our seafood workers a chance to continue to work in their industry.”

The job fair is open to those workers who have been affected by Ocean Choice International closure in the Souris area. The plant closed just before the spring lobster season last year and will not be opening this year.

The fair will take place on Tuesday, January 31, 2012, at St. Mary’s Hall, 66 Main Street, Souris, from 10 am to 2 p.m.
